Some have crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Others enjoy a well-earned retirement. But all of them remain forever

Asia Was More Than a Dog — She Was the Beginning

Asia was the dog who changed everything for us. She wasn’t just our first Doberman — she was the foundation
of Joie De Vivre Dobermans. Every success we have ever achieved traces back to her. Every puppy, every family,
every step forward… all of it rests on her legacy.

She was there for the birth of two of our children and nurtured them as her own. She led our pack with clarity,
confidence, and a gentle authority that only the best Dobermans possess. She was fierce, commanding, fearless,
brave, affectionate, nurturing, loving, gentle, powerful, and relentless — the complete Doberman.

Our Tribute

When Asia crossed the Rainbow Bridge on May 17th, 2022, we were not ready. Nobody ever is. What we wouldn’t give
for one more year… one more day… one more hour with her.

Asia wasn’t “our dog” — she was our friend. She shaped our lives, our farm, our program, and our purpose.
She set the standard for what a Doberman should be, and we have spent every day since honoring the bar she set.

If you have a puppy from A-Litter, D-Litter, G-Litter, F-Litter, M-Litter, or any of our many partnership pairings… you carry a piece
of Asia. And even if your puppy is not her direct descendant, her influence still lives on — in the mothers she mentored,
the puppies she taught, and the standard she established.

Asia’s Legacy Lives On

Asia is buried on the farm she made possible — land we would never have dreamed of if not for the path she opened for us.
She made life better simply by being present.

I will honor Asia for as long as I live. My last words to her will remain true forever:

“Thank you for everything. I love you.”

Athena Was Brilliance, Loyalty, and Heart

Athena was more than a dog — she was one of the most intelligent, intuitive, and devoted companions
we have ever known. She opened and closed doors, covered her tracks, learned faster than we could teach,
and loved with a depth that made her truly one of a kind.

She helped raise our children, standing beside them as they learned to ride bikes, explore the world,
and grow into themselves. She loved unconditionally, protected without hesitation, and moved through life
with a rare combination of grace and sharp, unmistakable Doberman awareness.

Her Heroism

Athena’s courage was never in question — but one moment revealed the full measure of her heart.
While our children were playing at the creek, a snake struck. Athena stepped between them and danger,
taking the bite herself so the children remained unharmed.

Her face swelled, her body struggled, and yet her spirit remained steady. She fought hard, recovered bravely,
and reminded all of us what loyalty truly means. That day, she became a hero in every sense of the word.

Athena as a Mother

Athena produced all but one of our early litters during the years we worked alongside Steve Pereira.
She shaped our foundation stock and passed on her intelligence, structure, and clarity to every
generation that followed. She is the dam of both Artemis Joie De Vivre and
Bellatrix Joie De Vivre, and her influence continues in their puppies — and in theirs.

Her legacy is woven into the fabric of Joie De Vivre. Every smart puppy, every stable temperament,
every soulful eye that looks back at a family — that is Athena.

How We Will Remember Her

Athena was our friend, our guardian, our partner, and the quiet genius behind so many of our early successes.
Losing her in January of 2025 broke our hearts, but it also reminded us of everything she gave —
love, laughter, safety, puppies, and countless memories.

We will honor her for the rest of our lives. She made our world better simply by being in it.

The Miracle Who Became a Matriarch

Artemis’ story began in the most unexpected way — she entered this world without breath.
What should have been a stillborn puppy became a fight for life. For more than fifteen minutes
we worked, waited, hoped… and then came the faintest squeak. A spark of life.
A second chance.

As she grew stronger, it became clear that Artemis was special — not because of how she almost left us,
but because of how fiercely she lived. My broker at the time told me not to share her story.
Instead, I chose to keep her, protect her, and tell her story to anyone it might help.
The “almost-lost” puppy became the strongest in her litter… and one of the best dogs we would ever produce.

Our Most Prolific Mother

Artemis Joie De Vivre is the dam behind some of our largest and most influential litters.
From her incredible C-Litter to her massive H-Litter and J-Litter, she consistently blessed us
with big, healthy litters and stamped her puppies with unmistakable JDV character.

She was the kind of brood bitch every program hopes for — fertile, steady, reliable in whelping,
and exceptional in temperament. She raised every litter with calm confidence, keen instincts,
and a quiet, watchful presence that made her a natural mother.

Temperament & Type

True to her name, Artemis is intelligent, observant, and deeply bonded to her people.
She moves with effortless athleticism and carries a clear, functional Doberman outline.
Her temperament is beautifully balanced — enough drive to train and work, enough softness to thrive as a
loyal family companion.

Her puppies reflect her gifts: confident without being chaotic, social without being overstimulated,
thoughtful, stable, and eager to please.

Her Legacy in Our Program

Artemis remains our biggest producer to date — the mother of our most profitable litter ever,
and a cornerstone of our early program. Many dogs we place today trace their roots back to her,
either through her direct progeny or through the generations that followed.

Now retired, Artemis enjoys the peaceful life she earned. But her influence is everywhere — in the
minds, bodies, and hearts of the puppies she produced, and in the families whose lives she helped change.

We are forever grateful for her life, her legacy, and the miracle she grew into.
